Part of my work as a freelancer for the Heartland Thread Co. included designing seasonal swag for T-shirts, sweatshirts, and more. I was asked to create a simple and fun Halloween design with a modern boutique feel to it. I came up with this design, featuring a hippie-style typeface that I manipulated to add more dynamic movement. I added a ghost, bat, and pumpkin, drawn in simple designs, to further add a Halloween feel while still keeping it simple. To give the piece more depth, I decided to make each letter a different Halloween color, furthering the idea of a simple hippie-style typeface. I then created three different version of this design that could be used on different colored shirts, as shown below.
To compliment the "Spooky Season" design, I decided to expand upon the little ghost character. I created another version of the ghost, adding a purple witch hat and pumpkin, to create another simple design without any typography. The color scheme is similar to the "Spooky Season" theme, creating unification between the two while still being unique on it's own. For this design I also create different version of the same image, allowing for variability and options when printing on different colored shirts.
